The Short Answer
Often, yes. It depends on one thing: can I reach the back of your TV without moving it?
A Fire Stick plugs into an HDMI port on the back or side of the TV. If I can reach that port, I can usually finish your online streaming device setup help in one visit.
If the only way to reach the port is to take the TV off the wall, I stop there. I do not remove TVs from walls, and I do not mount them.
When a Wall-Mounted TV Is Easy to Work With
Many wall-mounted TVs have ports on the side or along the bottom edge. Those are usually fine. These things make the job easier:
- HDMI ports on the side or bottom edge of the TV
- A small gap between the TV and the wall
- The short HDMI extension that comes with a Fire Stick, which gives it room in a tight spot
When a Wall-Mounted TV Is Hard to Work With
A large TV mounted flat against the wall is the hard case. The ports face the wall, and there is no room to get a hand or a cable in.
I ran into this on a recent visit. The TV was big, the ports were out of reach, and the only way in looked like taking the TV down. I told the homeowner I was not comfortable doing that, and they agreed it was better to be safe.
Here is what usually makes a TV hard to work with:
- A large TV mounted flat to the wall
- Ports that face the wall with no gap
- No way to reach the ports without lifting the TV
Why I Do Not Take a TV Down
Large TVs are heavy and easy to damage. One slip can hurt someone or crack the screen.
A TV installer usually has the right tools and a second person to help. That is the safer way to move a TV, and I would rather send you to the right person than risk your TV.
What I Do Before I Come Out
When you call, tell me if the TV is on the wall and about how big it is. I will ask if the ports are on the side or the back.
If the ports look hard to reach, I may need to look at the TV first before I can say if I can help. That way you know what to expect before I come out.
What to Do If Your TV Is Hard to Reach
Call a TV installer to move the TV or make the ports easier to reach. Once I can reach them, I can take it from there.
I connect the Fire Stick, set up your streaming apps, and set up the remote so it works with your TV. If you want to watch Netflix right away, my step-by-step Netflix setup guide shows how it works.
If you live in Manatee or Sarasota County and are not sure how hard your TV will be, send me a message before booking and tell me what you have. I would rather answer a question than have you pay for a visit that cannot finish.
